Following up on a post from last week, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has closed down three companies that he claims defrauded thousands of individuals seeking immigration assistance. Cuomo says that the companies claimed to be qualified to provide legal services to clients who sought immigration assistance. The companies were based in New York City and Long Island. Cuomo has also initiated civil suits against three other companies involved in similar schemes.

As reported in the New York Times, there has been an apparent increase in the number of individuals and corporations providing unqualified immigration assistance.
