Company pays $1.3 Million in Forfeiture
According to the New York Tmes, a Texas donut company, Shipley Do-Nut Flour and Supply, has pleaded guilty to harboring unauthorized workers at its Houston plant. The company will pay $250,000 as a criminal fine and will forfeit $1.3 million. Additionally, three managers of the company have pleaded guilty to hiring unauthorized workers and will pay additional fines.
If any company still questions its need to understand and comply with I-9 and e-verify requirements, I think this is the time to reevaluate.
