President Obama’s Comments on Immigration

President Obama has been spending significant political capital attempting to address the economic crisis that has become global.  While the President, and the nation, has been fixated on this issue, many participants in the immigration debate have wondered if Comprehensive Immigration Reform will be addressed this year.

Yesterday, President Obama finally focused on immigration reform. During an address to a crowd in Costa Mesa, California, President Obama is reported to have said that long-established unauthorized foreign nationals, should have a mechanism for achieving legal status. They would have to learn English, pay a significant fine and “go to the back of the line” of those applying for legal entry.”

Now, lets see if that is what is included in Comprehensive Immigration Reform  – or if Comprehensive Immigration Reform will even happen this year.  Your guess is as good as mine.

Now is the time for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. If not now, then when? Government must step up to the plate!

What about the vice president’s comments about this being a bad time for immigration reform?
